At Homelands we have a 52 place, part time nursery (F1) and a 30 place reception class (F2). The children are admitted into F1 the term following their third birthday. There are two intakes, one in September and one in January.
Parents may choose to select the number of sessions they wish their child to attend.
When children reach Reception age then School places for F2 are selected by the Local Authority not the school.
What children experience and learn in the Foundation Stage can create strong and lasting foundations on which to build in later life, so we believe it is essential that the experiences are of the highest quality.
The staff across the unit are all skilful, highly trained educators, who are knowledgeable about how children learn, about child development and care. There is always a qualified teacher in the Nursery. We work closely together as a Foundation Stage team.

Our approach is very much based on active, hands on, play experiences. As a team we follow an emergent curriculum, building upon the interests of the children. The environment is set out with open shelves so that the children have open access to the equipment. One of our key drivers is to develop the children’s independence skills.
